How early should I get to a venue if I have standing tickets?
I have standing tickets to the Kerrang Relentless Tour at the Roundhouse, Camden. All Time Low are headlining. How early should I get to the venue if I want to get a good spot where I can see the stage, and have you got any tips? Doors open 6:30pm.

I’d feel out the situation. If you get there right when the doors open you might have to sit through a line, then stand in the back…which would suck. I’d say at least drive by one to two hour(s) early. If people are lining up then I would stop and jump in line. When I go to a concert there is no such think as "too early", I’m like you…I want to be in the front. Good luck!

Halloween - What Halloween movie do you think Michaels Myers looks best and/or most scary in?

oktober 16th, 2009 by petetbvloh

I would say Halloween 4 and 5.

In Halloween Resurrection, he looks the least best or scary in my opinion.

Halloween’s I & II

Modern Family - Will it be possible to complete a modern family tree?

oktober 16th, 2009 by petetbvloh

With the breakdown in family morals, with so many kids born out of wed-lock, brothers and sisters don’t have the same mother or father, how on earth would you work out a family tree.

Will it be more like a "gone" wild bush?

i;ve been doing mine and husband’s - there was a lot of illegitmacy a long time ago and very hasty marriages. start yours now before everyone is too old. i didn’t even know my grandparents names.
nice question

FLATTIE | Sep 09, 2008

It can be done! Trust me! LOL

I am into ancestry, and it just takes a bit more documentation. The family tree makers and software aren’t too kindly configured to do so, so you have to create your own on paper or in a word document.

Phillies - How do you feel about the Phillies getting Brad Lidge?

oktober 16th, 2009 by petetbvloh

To the Phillies fans, and Astros fans. I am a Phillies fan, and new season ticket holder and i have to say i feel pretty good about bolstering our bullpen with Brad Lidge. We don’t have the Cards in our division, and i saw the last Sunday NIght Baseball game last year when they again ran Lidge out of the game, but i feel he should bounce back this season. Provide your thoughts.

I like it a lot, if you look at what he did after initially losing his job last year to reclaim himself he proved that he can be a good reliever if the closer thing does nto work out. Myers was hit and miss with his save opportunities and is being paid starter money so I think they try to get him back int ot he rotation. As far as the rest of the players in the deal it was a wash. Geary showed flashes of promise but they were followed by 500 foot homeruns on 0-2 counts. Bourn is a guy with "potential" where as Lidge is all in on the major league roster, I like the move for the Phillies, now get another front line starter and possibly a REAL 3B and we are in business.

Relieved.

(And not trying to make a pun.)

My only thought on this is, "Well, whoop-de-doo!"
dookie_occurs | Nov 07, 2007

don’t like it. i leave myers in the closer spot unless we sign mariano rivera, which seems unlikely, and go after a starter via trade. a number one or two is probally not likely, just because we don’t have much to trade. i was reading today that we are very interested in a starter from japan, who is a free agent and would require no posting fee. we could use middle relief help but we need lefties, lidge is a righty. bringing lidge in to close in that tiny park is not something i would consider. holy crap! i thought you were asking a hypothetical question. i didn’t realize they actually did this.
jonas | Nov 07, 2007

My condolences. Does this mean Flash Gordon finally retires or does he turn up somewhere else?
pricehillsaint | Nov 07, 2007

Nobody can really have much of a feeling on it until next June or July when Lidge is either tanking or having a nice season for them. It’s a deal that hinges on the guy bouncing back. I would rather see Brett Myers as a starter anyway. He throws way too many curve balls for a closer and does way too much nibbling. Mariano Rivera has already said he will not be coming to Philly and Cordero from Milwaukee would have been far too expensive for the cheap Phillies. Geary and Bourn really are no loss but I’m not sure if I like seeing Costanzo go when they clearly need to upgrade the 3B position. You can’t really fault Gillick for trying though, there just isn’t much else out there right now.
M.M.12 | Nov 07, 2007

I think it’s a reasonable move on the Phillies part. The Phils need a closer who can get that big "K" when it’s needed and Lidge is that guy as long as his arm holds up.

He has an impressive BB to K ratio and a lifetime ERA of 3.30 which in today’s game is pretty dam good.

I still think they need to pick up another top line starter. Right now they are good enough to win the division again but will need that extra starter to get to the World Series.
The Mick "7" | Nov 08, 2007

sadly, he’s damaged goods. mentally, he cannot perform the closer role since pujols drilled him in the playoffs a couple of seasons ago. he might be able to do it in the season but if you expect him to perform well in the playoffs, i dont think he can.
lenny | Nov 08, 2007

Lidge will have you on the Ledge!
sebastian | Nov 08, 2007

The Phillies reach the postseason for the first time in 14 years, by one game, partly because of a game in April (I was there) where Lidge blew a lead… and now they’ve GOT him? Are they insane???

DVD review: Drag Me To Hell
14.10.09
Now before you start imagining the horrors of my youth, I should clarify my statement that my trip and this movie both filled me with a sense of nostalgia. “Drag Me To Hell,” written and directed by Sam Raimi (Spider-Man series) will likely find its way into the hearts of people who have closely followed his career. Long before he turned Spider-Man into a billion dollar franchise, Raimi cut his teeth with his low-budget Evil Dead series (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn, Army of Darkness).  Unluckily for her, an old gypsy woman named Mrs. Ganush stops by to ask for an extension on her home loan. The old spinster can either pay up or hit the streets and when the boss tells Christine the decision to grant an extension is hers, she chooses career over sympathy and forecloses on the old woman’s home. Before she realizes what happened, poor Christine has made a mortal enemy and Mrs. Ganush places a curse on her. The mousy bank teller has three days of torment ahead of her before a demon comes to drag her to Hell. Raimi skips any sort of subtleties with this movie and goes all out with loud noises, jump scares and the whole nine yards.   “Drag Me To Hell” is an in-your-face crowd pleaser with atmosphere, crackling energy and enough slime to make anyone wince. It’s the kind of movie a lot of people are going to have fun watching, but for me, it’s like eating a piece of Halloween candy. It tastes good but won’t fill you up. As fun as this movie was, it left me wanting more.

Why is it important for society if gays get married? Why is it important if heterosexuals get married?
Is it beneficial for society as a whole for gays to get married and why? Or is it primarily only beneficial for gays to get married?

Is it beneficial for society as a whole for heterosexuals to get married and why? Is it primarily only beneficial for heterosexuals to get married?

it isnt important to society if gays marry… although they would have you believe so. this county is a christian country founded on christsian principles and according to most christian beliefs as well as what is plainly written in the Bible, homosexuality is a sin. i more than anyone believe that gov’t and religion shouldnt mix but allowing gays the same rights as non gays kinda sets the tone that it is ok to be gay…and well, its not. for a select vocal minority to insist that i go against what i believe God wants just to politically legitimize their alternative lifestyle is unamerican. if you are gay, then be gay…dont get me to agree with it or expect me to pay for your lifestyle thru my taxes or the rise in cost for my insurance or benefits. i have an alternative lifestyle as well but i am not fortunate that society deems my lifestyle "cool" or in style at the moment.

its important for heterosexuals to marry because that is what is expected , according to the New Testament, if you cannot dedicate your life to God and keep your mind from earthly desires, lest you sin from lust! hahaha …thats what the Bible says, not me… but theres something to it. its worked so far…its not perfect cuz we are not perfect, but if you belittle the sanctity of marriage further by opening it up to gays then we will only see the institution of marriage suffer further…and by implication further deterioation of the family unit. personally, i dont want it to be a common sight of some queer squealing in delight in a white wedding dress while more and more young people grow up without one or both parents in the home.

Its not important to society…its important to the couples. The divorce rate in this country is 50%.
Hater Police | May 27, 2009

it`s not important to society at all but is important to the individual, should anything dread-full happen to one of the partners then the law basically says they have no rights.
don`t believe all the " common law rubbish"
Alan | May 27, 2009

The only importance is that the laws and rights which benefit married couples are applied unilaterally.

Marriage is a legal arrangement granted by the state and should therefore have no religious restriction.
smedrik | May 27, 2009

Morally it is important to have couples married, whether gay, heterosexual
or different races. Important for children or possessions in case of any separation or deaths. Society mostly accepts unwed couples or mixed & same sex couples but the stigma follows in the next generation. That is just the way it is.

spartaworld.combat | May 27, 2009

I guess people just think it’s better that way because babymaking is usually involved. But I have to say that nowadays "only stupid people are breeding." Gay people deserve the right to love and be loved, officially.

Why is the film called seven pounds?
Watched seven pounds last night. It was a great film, if a little confusing. I understand the relevance of the number seven. But why seven pounds?

The body organs he donated, totalled 7 pounds.

awesomefb | Feb 02, 2009

It is a reference to Shakespeare’s "The Merchant of Venice". In the play, Antonio (the merchant) comes to Shylock, who in essence is a loan shark, to borrow money for a friend. The terms are that if Antonio does not pay back the money Shylock will literally take a pound of Antonio’s flesh as repayment. Antonio defaults on the loan and Shylock (having disliked Antonio for a long time) has him arrested and taken to court to have the contract upheld and extract his pound of flesh. There is a loop hole and everything works out in the end. "A pound of flesh" has come to refer to a severe demand or serious debt that need be satisfied. The movie is called "Seven Pounds" because it refers to the debt Will Smith’s character feels that he owes. He took seven peoples’ lives and he fixes that by changing seven more peoples’ lives. His own "pounds of flesh" repaid with his own sacrifice.

#qanda - what do you all think of this yahoo QandA thing?

oktober 15th, 2009 by petetbvloh

i think people mainly use it just to be noticed, just to have some sort of contact with others. im not saying theres anything wrong with that quite the oppisite, i just wanna know what other people think…
cool, keep um coming. i just love finding what other people think and how minds work.
cheers

I agree but some people come on here with legitimate questions and answers and it makes it worth sorting through all of the junk..

Sunshine | Jan 21, 2008

there are so many people who use yahoo answers that it hard to generalise like that. Yes there will be some attention seekers out there but, I hope, there are many people who are interested in finding out things and helping others. I must admit that many seam obsessed with point scoring! Bit immature really
Ogsplosh | Jan 21, 2008

You are correct in that there are plenty of people on here who are attention seekers. And who don’t really answer questions per se.

I wish I was a level 2 so I could systematically vote against these people’s irrelevent answers. In fact, that’s one of the bugs in this system. Anyone who writes up anything automatically gets points and moves on higher. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a filter on yahoo answers as to what constitutes an answer and what doesn’t, aside from us voting for or against it, and outright reporting disrespectful answers.

I think once Yahoo works out the kinks in answers, it could prove to be a mighty useful tool for those that are serious in posing and answering questions.

It could possibly even rival the "ask me help desk" website.

Akinamehete | Jan 21, 2008

It can be useful and informative, every one knows something about something and sharing the knowledge can do some good for some people…
The only thing I find annoying are questions that are not really one thing or another…..hope this helps…Steven

Paris - How to apply Morocco visa in Paris and where?

oktober 14th, 2009 by petetbvloh

I am planning to go to Morocco in April and I am an Indian studying in Paris.
I have my carte de sejour but what all other documents do I require to apply for the visa.
I went to the Morocco Consulate in South of Paris but they told me to go to Pontoise and gave me the telephone number and email.
I tried contacting them , but they are not replying them or picking up the phone.
Pontoise is quite far from Versailles where I live, so please give advices or suggestions or own experiences.
It would be quite helpful…
Thanks

Hi, I can understand you as my country’s civil servants have the reputation to be very "efficient" :)

If you want a visa to go to Morocco, first, make sure you need one ;) Most of the countries don’t need visas for Morocco if they are just coming for less than three months :)

Well, seemingly you need one… I don’t understand this stupid visa system, especially in a country like Morocco but well… You know, even Moroccans have to fill a form explaining why they come back to their country when they get to an airport : security measure… Foolish! But anyway ^^

http://www.amb-maroc.fr/BienvenueMaroc/v oyager_au_maroc.htm

This link will help you a bit :)

Je suppose que tu parles francais, donc tu n’auras pas de problemes pour comprendre ce qu’il y a de marque ;)

If you need any further help, just email me (you can send me a message from my profile).

Ryan Howard - What will be Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley's numbers at the end of their career?

oktober 14th, 2009 by petetbvloh

Will they be HOFers

Ryan Howard 470-530 2000+ hits 1500 rbis
Jimmy Rollins 300-350 HRs 2700+ hits 600+ steals
Chase Utley 400-430 HRs 2400+hits 1600 rbis

You forgot to put Howard’s 3000 K’s.

I think that looks like it could be right, but I think Utley will have more hit, Rollins will have less hits and more SB’s.

Not sure about HOF’s…still too early to tell
